Itinerary
 
Day 1   (Bangkok - Chiang Rai)

 

5:00  - Pick up from hotel in Bangkok.

 

6:00  - Arriver at Don Mueang Airport Bangkok for 1 hour flight to Chiang Rai. Fly with either Air Asia or Nok Air or Thai Lion Air.

 

8:00  - Arrive at Chiang Rai Airport.

 

8:30  - Breakfast at local Thai restaurant.

 

9:30  - Wat Pra Kaew Chiang Rai. First found the Emerald Buddha hidden in Pra Chedi behind the chapel. After lightnings struck on Pra Chedi and collapsed it in 1434. 15:00 - Doi Tung Tree Top Walk (optional). The walkways has 2 pieces of wood that have equally width along with a netting around and needs to grasp on both sides of the net while walking. The height is about 20 meters above the ground on the distance of 300 meters. Cameras and bags can be taken up but must take care of it by yourself because the bridge will be wobbling all the time. Safety equipments for walking on the bridge are harnesses for fastening legs and waist. A rope tied to the hand holding to lock into the cable throughout the walkway. Staffs will instruct how to walk on the bridge and demonstrate how the use safety equipments.

Day 2   (Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai)

8:30  - Black House (Baandam Museum). A group of houses in Lanna art style all are painted in black which is the origin of the word "Black House". Each house is decorated with carved wood also adorned with buffalo horns, deer antlers and elephant bones. Sculptures and paintings were created by Thawan Duchanee the National Artist who favors black color.

 

9:45  - Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea Ten). An applied art temple from the craft of creation by a local artist in Chiang Rai. Its temple unique uses shades of blue and gold. The pattern is clearly different from the general sculpture. This chapel is defined as being a place of dream which praises of the Lord Buddha in both forms of sculpture and painting. There are delicate murals of Buddha's history using shades of blue inside.

 

10:45 - White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) designed to be the tangible heaven for humans by Chalermchai Kositpipat who was inspired by 3 followings Nation, Religion and King. Started building in 1997 presently having 3.5 acres of land.

 

12:00 - Lunch at local Thai restaurant. Khao Soi is one of the regional dishes common found in northern Thailand. It is noodles in the broth filled with piquancy spices. Complement with side dishes such as pickled lettuce and red onion. Typically come along with seasonings like fried chilli in oil, lime juice, fish sauce and sugar. Chicken or beef are usual served with noodles since its dish was introduced by Chinese Haw Muslim. Nowadays many restaurants are using pork, seafood or tofu instead. Some older generations may call it Khao Soi Haw or Khao Soi Islam.

 

15:00 - Bo Sang Handicrafts Centre. Most of the tourists vacationing in Chiang Mai always drop in Sankampang district to see the production procedure of hand-made umbrella and parasol at "Bo Sang" village. 15:30 - Cooking Class at organic farm. Half day afternoon 15:30 - 18:30. Vegetarian or vegan alternative is available. Choose 4 dishes from the lists which are curry, soup, fry or noodle, dessert plus making curry paste. It is all completely hands-on. Visit local market. The cooking instructor will explain about rice, seasonings and how to make fresh coconut milk. At organic farm with the view of surrounding mountains and the rice fields. A great opportunity to learn and see how vegetables, herbs and fruits grow without using agrochemicals and you will pick them afresh. Everything grows organically which means you will indubitably eat what you harvest to cook. All are 100% organic. Local farmers could impede the pests by planting different herb types. Vegetables grow at farm (Olericulture) are rice, bitter egg plant, long beans, galangal, finger roots, lemongrass, kaffir lime, lemon, green round eggplant, culantro, shallot, garlic, sweet basil, holy basil, morning glory, coriander, turmeric, long green chili, scallion, cucumber, bottle gourd, ginger and more. Fruits grow at farm (Fruticulture) are banana, mango, pineapple, tamarind, jackfruit, rose apple, Malay gooseberry, guava, star fruit, pomelo, rambutan, coconut, papaya and more. Each person will get their own cooking station with a stove, a table, a chopping block, mortar and pestle, knives, spatula and other cooking utensils. Then taste your own cooking for lunch. 21:00 - Thai massage by the former lady inmates. Most former female inmates are convicted of drug trafficking. Day 4   (Chiang Mai)

 

7:00  - Breakfast at The Marndadee Heritage.

 

7:30  - Leave The Marndadee Heritage.

 

9:30  - Kew Mae Pan nature trail. A route to watch the foggy sea protracting vastly enshrouded the mountain ranges during October to November. The distance is 3 km takes approximately 2 hours hike with an elevation of about 2,000 meters above sea level. It is required to have a hill tribe village tour guide leading the right direction and control littering. Starting through the moist rainforest replete with fern and moss out to the wide open meadow. Best time is during the Rainy Season (Jul - Nov) to see fog, lushness and greenness. The forest has been preserved for a long time and never having to pollution as being a national park area in high altitude. Full of various vines and plants such as Rhododendron and Sphagnum moss that grow well at an altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level where the light cannot reach. 15:00 - Kissing cliffs at Ob Luang National Park. It is a gorge invented by the erosion of stream flowing through below. Which some outlook resembles Kissing cliffs. At top of the gorge has a short bridge that allows a thrilling walk across with the depth of 32 meters to the bottom stream. The bridge can only hold 500 kg of weight at a time. Other activities in the National Park that the park official organizes for tourists are water rafting, trekking and mountain biking as well as camping.

8:30  - Warorot market is the largest market in Chiang Mai and over hundred years old. Center of souvenirs, food, beverages, clothing, kitchenware, fresh vegetables, winter fruit and miscellaneous. Foreign tourists regularly opt for clothes, fruit and delicious local much eating while browsing around. Chiang Mai residents will also buy goods at this market. Thai excursionists mostly come to buy locally renowned food souvenirs especially seasonal fruits, grilled Northern Thai sausage, fermented pork, chili paste, crispy pork rinds, gummy coconut milk, rice cracker etc. Its market front has pedicab (trishaw) service to ride around to imbibe the Ping River scene, inhale the ambience, understand way of living, access to the habitants and assimilate to regional eating culture. The market has a total of about 500 kiosks and opens from morning to evening.

 

10:00 - Elephant Nature Park (app 6 hrs). "Save Elephant" foundation alleviates injured elephants and developing the property to be convalescent home for poor elephants.
